Consider the following after partner selection:
- If possible, try to reduce dependency as much as possible. Have a single partner/advisor who manages ISV and the development partners.
- Get the budget approved and have all of the invoices billed through the partner. This way, the customer doesn't have to deal with multiple parties.
- Share your project plan with the ISV partner and align their delivery dates according to your schedule. Update your project plan to include the key ISV deliverables.
- Have them attend weekly meetings for status updates (if they are working in parallel on building the solution).
- Plan the code and configuration changes from ISV that must be incorporated into your development and other environments.
Many organizations have unique business requirements, which are not easily fit to the core product or ISV solution and need to be addressed with extension by the customer or implementation partner. In some cases, the customer may want to go for building the solution themselves instead of going with the ISV solution. While developing new features, it is vital to understand and have knowledge of standard features in Finance and Operations. You can use these features as possible workarounds to avoid customization or use them as part of your custom solution to provide a consistent user experience.
