Fireside Mulled Cider

Makes 12 servings

3 qts. apple cider

1/2 c. apple jelly

1/4 t. nutmeg

2 4-inch by 1-inch strips orange peel

3 whole cloves

2 whole allspice

4-inch cinnamon stick

1/2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled

Combine cider, jelly and nutmeg in a slow cooker; set aside. Place remaining ingredients in a square of doubled cheesecloth; bundle and tie with kitchen string. Place spice bag in slow cooker; cover and cook on high setting for 4 hours. Discard cheesecloth bag before serving.
