Part Four: Trees and Shrubs

Image

Trees and shrubs are the backbones of your garden and landscape. They anchor landscape beds, provide focal points, fill foundation planting beds next to your house, provide shade, and bloom to welcome the start of spring, summer, and fall. Evergreen trees and shrubs provide a bit of green in the landscape during the winter when everything else is dormant and bare. Trees have just as many interesting features as flowers, and they’re an investment in your landscape that adds to your home’s value. A yard filled with flowers but without any trees or shrubs will look bare. In this section, you will learn how to select, plant, and care for these important plants.
