• It is best to buy stamps at a tobacco shop. Only go to the post office for more complicated transactions, such as sending a telegram. For signs indicating tobacco shops, see p. 35.
• Mailboxes are usually red.
• To have your mail “held,” show your passport at the counter marked Fermo Posta in the main post office; you will pay a small charge.
