Suppose you want a bicycle. One day you spot a hot new bike leaning up against a store window. It’s unlocked, with no owner in sight. So you swipe it. You ride it home. You scream, “Wheeeee!” all the way. Well, getting a bike God’s way—by saving your money—would have been slow, hard, and costly. Doing wrong just made it feel fast, easy, and free. Sounds fun!
But sin doesn’t stay fun forever, because people who disobey God won’t escape punishment. God promises this: “Although the wicked flourish like weeds, and evildoers blossom with success, there is only eternal destruction ahead of them” (Psalm 92:7). Sin isn’t as fast, easy, or free as it seems. It’s not fun at all—in the long run!
