Picture in your mind a sports fan who plunks down $1000 for a sweaty jersey once worn by his favorite athlete. One day that shirt will fade and tear and be tossed in the trash. But the price that fan paid tells you he is nuts about his favorite player.

Well, you have a fan who is even crazier about you. It’s God! He paid a huge price to make it possible for you to become his child. He loves you so much that he sent his only Son, Jesus, from heaven to Earth. We celebrate Jesus’ birth at Christmas. We thank him for dying on the cross for us on Good Friday. And we celebrate the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Jesus’ death on the cross is the price tag that tells you how much you are worth—a price so high it can’t be counted. That’s how much God treasures you!

You were bought, not with something that ruins like gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ, who was like a pure and perfect lamb.
