25. Did Jesus ever do anything wrong?

A:

We must never picture Jesus as just another super-nice person, like a girl or boy at school who never talks out of turn or cuts into line. Jesus isn’t just pretty good. He’s the Son of God, and he’s perfect!

When the enemies of Jesus wanted a reason to put him on the cross to die, they tried hard to find bad things he had done. They couldn’t find any! So they asked people to lie and say bad things about Jesus (Matthew 26:59). But Peter said, “He never sinned” (1 Peter 2:22) and he is “the sinless, spotless Lamb of God” (1 Peter 1:19). Hebrews adds that he “did not sin” (4:15). Jesus always did what was right. He obeyed his Father perfectly, so he is a perfect example for us.

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death. But they did not find any.
