The rest of the day was cool. We had our final classes at the high school. All the Supadupa chatter had died down, and I didn’t see Hoody again. I couldn’t wait to go home. When the end of the school day came I was so happy I could feel myself starting to float. If I did that in front of my classmates my life would be over. I leaned against a tree and waited for Denise, wishing I could fly home instead of taking the bus. My heart skipped a beat when I saw Erika walking towards me.

“Hey, Javon.

“Hey Erica.”

“I’m so glad its Friday. What are you doing this weekend?”

I wanted to say, Oh, fighting crime, rescuing innocent people, you know the usual. But instead I said, “Nothing, just hanging out with Ronald.”

“Well..umm..I’m going to see the new movie, Alienman3, wanna come?”

“HECK YES! Errr…I mean sure, that would be great,” I said. I was so excited, I had to grab onto the tree to keep from floating off the ground.

“Cool. I’ll come by tomorrow around twelve o’clock.”

“Great, see you then.”

That night at the dinner table Dad, Mom, and Denise were still talking about the Supadupa Kid.

“Everyone is going crazy trying to figure out who this kid is. Is he an alien? Is he the result of a government experiment? Nobody knows,” Dad sighed.

“I hope that he doesn’t get famous and go on some crazy reality show.” Mom stated.

“I think the Supadupa Kid needs to go to the gym because he doesn’t have any muscles and I hate his tights,” Denise chortled.

“They’re NOT tights.” I snapped but then decided if you can’t beat em, join em. I became the biggest Supadupa cheerleader.

“I think his costume is way cool and man, does he seem smart, and did you know he can fly faster than a speeding bullet. I even heard he can throw skyscrapers to the moon!”

“Okay guys, that’s enough supadupa talk for one day. How was school today?” Mom asked.

“School was fine but I was wondering if I could go to the movies tomorrow?”

“To see what and with whom?” Dad asked.

Alienman3 with Erika Harris. I’ll use my allowance money.”

“Oooh, Erika-n-Javon sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes….”

“Alright, Denise, that’s enough. No singing at the dinner table.”

“That’s fine, Javon, you may go out with Erika. I know Mr. and Dr. Harris very well, and Erika is a very nice young lady. Just make sure you’re home in time for dinner.”

“Yes Mom, no problem.”
