Chapter Thirty-Eight

RAINA LANDED ON THE bed with a giggle that made my heart soar. Her fear was gone and she trusted me implicitly. She knew I’d never hurt her and that I would do everything in my power to bring her pleasure.

Moving to the end of the bed, I stood there and stared at my mate. Her amber hair was spread out around her, framing her exquisite face. My gaze wandered down her flawless body, then back up again. Our mate, my wolf said in satisfaction and hunger. His turn would come when the moon was full, but for now, she was all mine.

I climbed onto the bed and straddled Raina’s legs. She shivered in anticipation when I ran my hands up her calves, then her thighs and settled them on her waist. I leaned down to give her a kiss and she kissed me back with growing skill. We would learn each other’s likes and dislikes as we went. Being bonded would speed up the process.

My hands slid up to cup her breasts, then I kissed my way down to them. It was heady knowing no other man had ever taken her nipples into their mouths. Her back arched and she gave a small moan. I lingered for a while, licking, sucking and stroking her, then I moved lower.

Raina’s body tensed up when I reached the apex of her thighs, but it wasn’t from fear. She knew what I was going to do before my tongue touched her. She wasn’t ready for the intense pleasure as I flicked her nub with my tongue. I could feel the waves of ecstasy begin and slid a finger into her.

Moaning and bucking her hips, my mate neared the edge. With a few more strokes of my tongue and finger, she orgasmed with a breathless scream. I was aching with need by now, desperate to plunge myself into her willing body. She opened her eyes and smiled. “Take me and make me yours.”

I’d never wanted any woman as much as this before, but I had to be careful, since this was her first time. I eased myself into her and felt her barrier stopping me. “This might hurt a bit,” I warned her, feeling horrible that she would have to suffer through pain before I could bring her pleasure.

“Most women go through this their first time,” she said and put her arms around my neck to draw me down for a kiss. “I’m glad I waited for you to find me,” she whispered into my ear.

Bracing myself to feel her pain, I slid into her. There was a small pinch and a gasp of shock, then her pain faded. We were both relieved that it hadn’t been as bad as we’d expected. I kissed her as she adjusted to having me inside her, then my hips began to move.

Raina’s hands roamed over my shoulders, back, sides and chest. Every touch inflamed my desire for her, driving me to bring us both the pleasure that was waiting for us. I could feel she wasn’t in pain, so I sped up my thrusts. She moaned and her legs locked around my thighs, urging me on.

I’d never rushed towards my release so fast before, but I didn’t know how long I could hold out. I could feel the sensation of my shaft sliding in and out of her from both of our perspectives. She could feel how tight she was and how good she felt to me.

“I want to bite you,” she said, panting and gasping as her orgasm grew closer.

“Do it,” I said, nuzzling her shoulder. “We’ll bite each other at the same time.”

I knew what would happen when we did. Nick blasted me with his ecstasy every time he and Freya cemented their bond.

Raina put her mouth on my shoulder and we both bit down as we reached our peak together. Finally, I understood why true mates were always so smug after they’d found each other. Our pleasure was magnified tenfold. We came over and over, our ecstasy boosted by our bond.

When our orgasms eventually petered out, I flopped onto my side next to my mate and cuddled her to me. Our bodies were no longer joined, but our minds were. We basked in the aftermath, silent and happy.

“How long will this last?” Raina asked.

“What? Our happiness?” She nodded and turned to face me. “Now that we’ve found each other, we’ll always feel like this,” I said.

She scanned my mind to glean all of the knowledge I had about true mates. “None of them were immortal,” she reminded me.

“My parents are. They’ve been bonded for almost three decades and their passion hasn’t faded at all.”

Raina picked up on something in my memories and her mouth dropped open. “They used me to help them fight the demons?” she asked.

“Mom and dad used every vampire and shifter on the planet during that battle,” I explained. “You would have been roped into service along with the others, since you were in your werewolf form at the time.”

“I knew something weird had happened,” she said, tracing a lazy circle on my chest with her fingernail. “A strange scent lingered on me when I woke up.”

“That would have been a zombie,” I figured. “Mom sent them out to grab all of the shifters she and dad could sense. Nick’s mate, Freya is a vampire and shifter hybrid. They used her when she was in her werewolf form during that battle as well.”

“Will your friends and family accept me, since I’m half fae?” she asked worriedly.

“We’re all crossbreeds or hybrids,” I reassured her. “They’ll love you almost as much as I do.”

My sense of duty was nagging at me. I’d been trained to lead a squad and to look after them. They’d behaved themselves so far in my absence, but I wasn’t sure how much longer they would last without getting into some sort of mischief.

“We can go home now,” Raina said. “I know you miss Nick.”

There was no way I could hide anything from her and it was pointless to try. “I know he’s fine, but I’m not used to being away from him for so long,” I replied. Nick had been gone for a week before he’d returned with Freya. I’d left after a day to distance myself from his overwhelming feelings of joy.

“He’ll get a taste of that himself tonight when we’re in bed together,” Raina said with an impish grin.

My smile was just as wicked as hers. “It’ll be nice to turn the tables on him,” I agreed, then gave her a lingering kiss.

We got up and rinsed ourselves off, then got dressed. Raina used magic to clean and repair her clothes. It was fascinating to watch her irises spin. It seemed the more magic she used, the faster they spun.

Packing everything I’d brought with me into my duffle bag, we headed downstairs. I took a few things from the fridge, knowing the Cleanup Crew would dispose of the items I’d left behind the next time they turned up to clean the place.

“Are you ready?” I asked, knowing she was feeling nervous about meeting everyone.

“I’m ready,” she agreed and took my hand.

I picked Delta up and Raina opened the door to find the skeletons waiting for us. Delta must have told them we were leaving. “There’s one stop I want to make before we head home,” I said. “Take us to the snake you guys killed,” I requested.

Delta did as I’d asked and I took a few photos of the creature to add it to the file I would create for it.

“Can you drag it beneath the ground?” I asked. I didn’t want anyone to stumble across it, since it was so toxic. The skeletons guarded us while my mouse made the monster sink out of view. Delta took us home when she was done.
