Set the table to create your own pizzeria—tablecloth, dishes, candles, and dinner music. Give your “restaurant” a name and have your daughter create a sign and/or menus with crayons and paper.
Make your way to the kitchen. Put on aprons to protect your clothes. Follow the package directions to prepare a pizza crust for each of you. Carefully spoon pizza sauce over the crusts and sprinkle on some shredded cheese. Add your favorite toppings and bake your pizzas in the oven until hot and bubbly. While they bake, have a little cleanup time—Mom will appreciate it!
When the pizzas are finished baking, enjoy your meal together.
There’s nothing better than a pizza just the way you like it. I personally prefer a Chicago stuffed pizza with pepperoni and black olives. My girls prefer a hand-tossed pineapple and Canadian bacon pizza, and my son goes for barbecue chicken pizza every time.
Just like pizzas are made to order, God makes each of us exactly the way he had in mind. He gave each person their own unique talents, and has special plans for how he wants us to use our gifts and talents to serve him.
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. (Rom. 12:4–6)
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Eph. 2:10)
Won’t it be exciting to see what God has in store for you and me?
Dear God,
Thank you for giving each of us our own special gifts and talents. Please teach us how to use them for you. Help us to be humble about our gifts, understanding that everything we do depends on your help and strength. Teach us to appreciate the talents we see in others without being jealous. Help us to see how amazing you are by the special gifts we see in others. We are so thankful for the church you have made, and the way you love us through our brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen!
