Are you ready for some movie-making magic? Create the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, one scene at a time, by arranging the toys and other items on a tabletop “set.” Have your daughter decide which of you will narrate the story and who will be the cameraman that films the scenes. Your daughter may even want to play the part of Goldilocks herself! Load your completed film onto a computer. If you like, use your system’s software to add music and special effects. Pop some popcorn and have fun watching your movie premiere!
We don’t know much about Goldilocks other than her bad habit of breaking into people’s houses! We know more about the bears, who appreciate a healthy diet and exercise and like to do everything as a family. We even know their furniture preferences. What is your family known for? Are you the biggest sports fans? The most musical? The ones who help out their neighbors? The ones with the brightest Christmas light display on the block?
The Bible has a lot to say about what God’s people are to be known for. Consider what Jesus says in John 13:34–35:
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
How will we be known as followers of Christ? By our love for each other! Even in your time together today, the caring and attention you are giving each other is your way of sharing the love of God. How amazing that caring for each other connects us with the heart of God himself.
Dear Father,
Thank you for giving us a new identity as your children. Please give us loving hearts so that the world sees you when it sees us. We want to care for each other in a way that stands out, just like your love for us is too big to miss! Please use us to be a light in the darkness. Amen!
