Play some Christmas carols, make some hot cocoa, and get in the holiday spirit! Work together to bend the branches of the Christmas tree into the right shape. Wind the string of lights through the branches. Let your daughter string beads onto pipe cleaners and wrap them around the tree branches to resemble garlands. Tie curling ribbon to the ends of the branches. Use scissors to curl the ends of the ribbon. Hang the miniature ornaments on the tree and turn on the lights!

Grow

In the days before Christmas, we remember the amazing story of the birth of Jesus. We read the story of how Mary discovered she would become the mother of the Savior of the world. She knew it would be an extraordinary experience to see the Son of God grow up before her eyes. (See Luke chapter 1 to read the full story and Mary’s song of praise.)

Think back on the time when you were expecting the arrival of your own child. Take some time to describe the excitement and other feelings in your heart when you knew she was coming. Talk about how you chose her name, the place where she was born, and what your first moments with her were like.

Were you there at the hospital when she was born? Or did you have an amazing introduction when she was adopted? What were your hopes and dreams about becoming the father of a little girl? Take some time to look through your daughter’s scrapbook and reminisce about her babyhood.

Dear Father,

Thank you for the incredible gift of Jesus, who was born as a baby to come into the world and save us. Thank you for the gift of my own daughter. You know how much I love her because you’re her Father too! It is a privilege to be her dad. Help me to cherish her, watch over her, and point her to you. Amen.
