Your daughter’s treasure box will be a treasure in itself! Help her spread newspaper over your work area. Lay out all of the various craft supplies, paint, and glue. Provide her with a water cup for her paintbrushes.
Follow her instructions as you work together to paint her box. Let her choose the colors. Let the paint dry, then begin gluing gems, ribbon, glitter, etc. onto the box. In this case, there cannot be too much of a good thing! When your daughter decides her box is complete, set it aside so the glue can dry.
While the box is drying, read the following verses:
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matt. 6:19–21 ESV)
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. (1 Tim. 6:18–19)
Dear Lord,
You have blessed us in every way! Please teach us to have thankful hearts and to see all of the ways you share your treasure with us each day. Please give us hearts that care for others. Please show us how you want us to share with those around us. Amen.
