The night before, check your local forecast for the time of the next day’s sunrise. Set your alarm a little earlier than this so you’ll be up before the sun.
In the morning, wake up your daughter and head to a local donut shop. (Don’t wake up the rest of your sleepy family as you head out the door!) Pick out a favorite muffin or donut and take it to-go. Drive together to a spot with a great view to watch the sunrise.
As you sit and enjoy your breakfast, enjoy the light as it begins to fill the sky. Take note of which colors you see in the clouds and when you see the edge of the sun first appear above the horizon. Celebrate a beautiful new day!
Every morning is really a miracle. It’s a fresh new day full of possibilities. The best part is that each morning begins one more day in which we can see how God loves us through everything that happens.
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. (Lam. 3:22–23 ESV)

Today is a day of second chances. We can be a better friend, have a more thankful heart, and work hard to learn something new. It’s exciting that God will be walking beside us all through this day, ready to help us every minute.
Dear God,
Thank you for this beautiful morning and the exciting possibilities that this day holds. Please help us to count our blessings today. Fill our hearts with love and kindness for everyone we see. Help us to be brave when hard things happen. Most of all, give us eyes to see how real you are and how you’re with us all the time. We love you! Amen.
