Check your local restaurant listings and reviews to find a good hibachi-style restaurant near you. Call ahead in case reservations are needed. Travel with your daughter to the restaurant and read through the menu together.
After you place your order, encourage your daughter to be adventurous as she tries Asian soup, tea, and maybe even chopsticks for the first time. Enjoy the show as the chef slices, dices, and tosses your dinner together with flair!

It’s likely you have had rice, vegetables, and meat on your dinner plate many times in the past. What made this meal different, however, was the dramatic way it was prepared. It’s entertaining to see the flames from the grill and the flashing knives of the chef right in front of you!
Sometimes we feel as if our days are repetitive and predictable. It’s the same old “rice-and-vegetables” every day. How can we change our point of view so we are excited about each new morning? How does God give our lives meaning? Read Paul’s words to the Colossians. Write down the words in bold print to make a list of the gifts we’ve been given.
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Col. 1:9–14)
With gifts like that from God, how could each day not be amazing! With his wisdom, good work to do, knowledge and power, and the hope of the kingdom of the Son, our days are filled with promise.
Dear God,
Thank you that when we belong to you, there is no “ordinary” day. We are so excited about the wisdom, power, knowledge, and inheritance you have for us. Teach us to use these gifts to do good work for you. Help us to keep our joy—we have so much to look forward to! Thank you for bringing us into your kingdom. Amen.
