7. Humorous Illustration

Artists who enjoy cartooning but are not particularly interested in illustrating for comic books or comic strips can find a place in the world of humorous illustration. Comical art in all styles is used for editorials, advertising, publishing, computer game and toy industries, as well as in other avenues of the print market. In this unique area of the business, the artist’s sense of humor and individual personality are projected into the artwork. His or her unique way of seeing and commenting on society, issues, and on people in general is employed to attract viewers for the purposes of selling products or adding levity to complex topics. Other industries that seek humorous artists include the greeting card market, licensing products, and even the limited-edition print trade.
