From drawing on a sidewalk to drawing on a wall or ceiling, the career of a mural artist is a rewarding way to see one’s work displayed in a large format and in a public venue. Mural artists seek out and acquire commissions from a large pool of potential clients. Possibilities for employment include educational institutions, corporations, city and town beautification committees, urban property owners, retailers, and even homeowners who desire a mural in their home. Often a mural artist will hire assistants to aid in the production of a mural, and, as with all illustration, the subject matter may be dictated by the client. The artist, however, brings a personal touch to such projects with a unique style of art that is a reflection of his or her own vision.
