Chapter Twenty-Six

Niall sighed as he watched Seth arrive on set. He looked at Seth’s lean hips and then at his dear face. Niall’s heart ached as he watched his idol walk across the set with those long, sexy strides of his.

Seth didn’t even see him because he was mentally in his character. He casually swung his black sword over his head and pulled it down into the black sheath on his belt.

As Seth arrived, Niall was finished on the set and caught a buggy ride over to the refreshment marquee. He wasn’t needed for two hours and, having missed breakfast, he was hungry.

He was in line behind two people, one of whom he was quite certain was the woman who had been draped over Seth that morning. He cringed.

He listened to the two talk. Not knowing that Jake was her brother, he assumed the woman was stringing Seth along. Niall didn’t like it. As they ordered bacon and tomato sandwiches, he looked around to find out who was in the place and where he could sit.

He saw one of the hairdressers having coffee by themselves near the back of the marquee. Daniel would be good to sit with. He often knew lots of gossip. Niall wanted to know who the pretty young woman two timing Seth really was. She didn’t look to him as if she was the detective Dianne had talked about. He sighed as he reached the counter and asked Dougie for coffee and a fried egg on toast.

Dougie grinned. “Hard or soft, Niall?”

Niall gave him a stare. “A fried egg with a soft yolk, okay Dougie?”

“Coming up.”

He turned and yelled the order through the hatch, where one of the short order cooks started making the late breakfast.

Niall took his coffee to the table where Daniel sat. “Can I join you? I don’t feel like eating alone.”

Daniel smiled. “Sure.”

Niall put his coffee down and walked back to the counter for his egg. He took it to the table and sat down to eat. He had eaten half his meal when he asked Daniel about Bethany.

“Do you know who that is over there—the young woman with the long, dark hair, sitting with the attractive guy? They make a striking pair, don’t they?” Niall nodded his head toward Jake and Bethany.

Daniel glanced over the table.

“Interested in the girl? I thought you were into guys. She’s Seth Carbery’s personal trainer. As for the guy, I’ve no idea. What’s up?” He was affable and Niall flashed him a smile, before he raised his eyebrows.

“Personal trainer?” So, she wasn’t the woman Dianne was talking about, which didn’t surprise him. Maybe Dianne was trying to go out on a high, saying the detective was in bed with Seth. Nevertheless, he saw this woman in bed with Seth, whoever she was. Now, here she was with another guy and they looked like they knew each other well.

Niall finished his food and then asked Daniel about his day. It would be best not to seem too interested in the couple.

When Daniel left the table, Niall turned again to look at Bethany and watched her for a moment. It hurt to think Seth was off working, not knowing the woman he made love to was with another man. He was sure Seth should know. He decided right then to slip a note under the door of the actor’s trailer.

Niall didn’t take too much care. He tore a page out of his own notebook. He used it to make notes, rather than use anything electronic that could be a nuisance when he was working. He never considered people saw him use it. They were generic notebooks that could belong to anyone. He printed the words.

Seth, I want you to know that your lover is two timing you. It breaks my heart to see. I will have to take action against her if it continues.

From someone who loves you.

He flipped the little notebook closed and stuffed it into the back pocket of his jeans.

Niall left the canteen marquee and sprinted up to the trailers. He looked around as he reached Seth’s trailer. There was no one around because everyone was working. He bent and slipped the tiny note under the door. He paused for a second to think about how easy it went under there. Seth would get quite a draught when the weather was cold. Niall’s kindheartedness kicked in and he decided to do something about the door, knowing there were rubber strips to attach on the inside to stop these draughts. He walked away, thinking that somehow he would get maintenance to deal with that door.

He walked back to the area where buggies lined up to take people to various areas and took one to the set. He had warned Seth about the woman and that was the most he could do right then.
