Ten Thousand Lives

i

was

going

to tell you about Victor Martinez and his love of Nabokov

in that tiny room we used to sublet on 24th & Capp Street #10

second floor across the street where Cecilia designed Akrílica

in ’88 — about

his love for Heidegger & Nietzsche & the Chinese classics

what I mean

is his insistence on deciphering the way of things not

the pettiness of our lives

of our political & cultural entanglement with you he wanted

to pierce the Quantum

of it all of us all

where imagination duplicates

into all being in mitosis & in doing so

thinking & mind — he is gone

now in that

room where we talked & thought & invented our liberations &

were

reborn
