Mrs. Sullivan stopped to change colors in the afghan. “Don’t you think this is a lovely shade of blue? Blue is Jesse’s favorite color."

"It is a lovely shade. I'm sure he'll like it," Maggie said. "My favorite is yellow," she thinks for a second. "Josh, I forget. What is your favorite color?"

"I thought you knew. It's green."

"It’s funny, I can remember things so clearly from seventy years ago, but sometimes I can’t remember whether or not I swept the porch!"

Maggie smiled. "Josh forgot to bring his cell phone, and that was only a few hours ago."

"Now, let's be fair. I didn't forget. I misunderstood. There is a big difference. Besides, I wasn't thinking about cell phones. I had more important things on my mind at the time. Show her," he said, nodding to Katy.

"He wants me to show you this," she said and held out her hand to show off the ring.

"That's very pretty. I'm so happy for the two of you. When is the big day?"

"Around Thanksgiving..." Josh began.

"Thanksgiving, next year." Maggie corrected.

"Oh, it's still in the planning stage, is it?"

"Maggie thinks it will take a long time to arrange. But Jim and Malinda did it in a matter of weeks." He sat back in his chair and smiled at Maggie as if he had just proved a point.
