THIS ISN’T THE STORY I thought I was going to tell, but as I’m finishing it, I realize this is the story I—and so many other people—needed, no matter how long it’s been since a loss. I hope it has brought you the same comfort it brought me, whether you grieve for the loss of a person, pet, or even something else in your life. So thank you, reader, for being here with me.
