ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

There are many people I need to thank, who willingly gave their time and memories. Adam Mountford, the current TMS producer, set me on my way. His predecessor, Peter Baxter, showed great kindness by not only sharing his memories, but also much of his archive. In no particular order, I’d also like to thank Jonathan Agnew, Henry Blofeld, Geoffrey Boycott, Harsha Bhogle, Simon Mann, Vic Marks, Mike Selvey, Jim Maxwell, Phil Tufnell, David Lloyd, Brian Waddle, Alison Mitchell and Neil Manthorp, who all happily gave their time to answer my questions and recall their favourite moments of commentary. Any errors are entirely of my own doing.

At BBC Radio 5 Live, Richard Maddock and Richard Burgess were of great help, particularly in putting me in touch with the BBC Archive. There, Kenneth O’Keefe went beyond the call of duty, answering my many queries and helping locate and dig out prized pieces of audio from the archive. Without his assistance, compiling this book would have been impossible.

At BBC Books, many thanks to Albert DePetrillo and Kate Fox for their patience and guidance. Finally, I’d also like to thank my agent Araminta Whitley and all the team at LAW.
