APPENDIX 2
EMMY AWARD WINNERS

The “Emmy” awards are given each year in recognition of excellence in television performance and production. The following are the principal awards presented over the years to nighttime network series and the people connected with them, including actors, writers, and directors. Also included, for the sake of completeness, are awards for nighttime “one-time-only” specials and Public Broadcasting Service programs, even though these are not otherwise within the scope of this book.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences also presents many other “Emmy” awards not listed here, in such areas as local programming, daytime and sports programming, and in numerous technical areas such as film editing, sound mixing, and technical direction.
