This darling little purse keychain would be a great quick gift idea for friends — and they will remember you each time they pick up their keys. This nylon cord comes in many solid and variegated colors.
1 spool (7 oz./200 g) nylon cord in olive green (1 spool makes 4 purse keychains)
Size E/4 (3.5 mm) hook
1/3″ decorative button for tab
1 key ring
1 snap for closure
Yarn needle
Used in this project: Hilos 100% nylon cord #18 in Olive (see resources, pg. 125). Substitute J&P Coats Crochet Nylon cord or any #2 yarn wt.

5 sc rows = 1″
To remember where you are on a pattern, put the pattern in a plastic sleeve and use a highlighter to mark each step as you have worked it. That way, you will not lose your place. Just wipe the plastic clean when you are finished.
Rnd 1: Ch 11, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across (10 sc), work 2 more sc in last sc, cont around, work scs in each free ch on other side, 2 more sc in last ch, join to first sc — 24 sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, inc 3 sc on each end, sc in each sc around. End off — 30 sc. (Body is worked separately and attached later.)
Rnd 1: Ch 30, join with sl st to form a ring, ch 1, sc in same sp as sl st and in each ch around. Join to first sc — 30 sc.
Rnds 2–12: Ch 1, sc in same sp and in each sc around. End off — 30 sc.
Row 1: Pm at center st on back, 3 rows down from top edge. Attach cord to 1 st over at rt of center st, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 sts, ch 1, turn — 3 sc.
Rows 2–10: Sc in each sc, ch 1, turn — 3 sc.
Row 11: 2sctog in first 2 sc (for 1 dec), sc in next sc — 2 sc.
Row 12: 2sctog in rem 2 sc. End off — 1 sc. Sew button to tab.
Make 2.
Cut 2 strands of cord 72″ each. Fold 1 cord in half, doubling the cord for each handlem Make slipknot, leaving a 3″ tail. Tightly ch 18. End off.
Attach handles with front of purse facing you.
From inside, pull loose ends of handle through st with hook (3 sts down from top edge and 3 sts over from tab). Pull ends to inside, tying a knot close to st; rep on other end. Rep to attach handle to back side.
Place bottom piece on end of purse, attaching each short end with a small piece of cord, holding it in place. Cut a 36″ piece of cord. With yarn needle and 1 strand of cord, attach bottom to purse (easing in to fit), stitching on outside edges.
With front facing you, on left inside of purse, attach cord to center st on second row from top, ch 2, sl st cord to ring, 2 sc on ring, turn and sl st in each ch to end, sl st to st at left of sp where cord was attached at beg. End off.
