These pretty Victorian-style capelets are easy to make because they have no increases or decreases. A decorative shell edge tops it off! Make them for your daughters, granddaughters or nieces, and snap a photo they will cherish forever.

Work from side to side.
Row 1: Ch 18 (18, 22, 22, 26, 26), sc in second ch from hook, * ch 1, sc in next ch; rep from * across row, ch 1, turn — 9 (9, 11, 11, 13, 13) sc and 8 (8, 10, 10, 12, 12) ch-1 sps.
Row 2: * Sc in next sc, ch 1; rep from * across, sc in last sc, ch 1, turn.
Rows 3–58 (62, 66, 70, 74, 78): Rep Row 2. End off after last row. Work more rows in increments of 4 for a wider capelet. At this point, capelet should measure 34″ (36¼″, 38½″, 40¾″, 43″, 45¼″) wide and 8½″ (8½″, 10¼″, 10¼″, 12″, 12″) long.

Change to K hook.
Starting at left neck edge and with front facing, attach CC to corner (top of dc). Ch 1, sc in same sp, sk horizontal dc (5-dc sh in next sc, sk next st, sc in next st, sk next st), 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6) times. You should have 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6) sh(s) on side edge. Continuing around, 7-dc sh in corner, * sk next st, sc in next st, sk next st, 5-dc sh in next st. Rep from * along bottom edge, and 7-dc sh in next corner. Work side edge as before, and end with sc in corner — 18 (19, 20, 21, 22, 23) evenly spaced shs on bottom edge — 28 (29, 30, 31, 32, 33) total shs.
Work from side to side.

Cont working along bottom edge same as adult capelet, starting with 7 dc sh in corner. Work up other side same as before, ending with last sh around post of dc; sc in corner on top edge. End off — 10 (11) shells on bottom edge, 18 (21) shells total.

Are you under a lot of stress? Do you sometimes feel that you are headed toward the edge? By all means, seek out someone to talk to. Reach out to people so they will know you need them, and you will not have to go through difficult times alone.
