Weather (DEVA)

Death Valley is renowned for its remarkably hot and dry climate. Average annual rainfall is less than two inches. The driest stretch on record is a 40-month period from 1931 to 1934 when just 0.64 inches of rain were recorded. An entire year can pass without any measurable precipitation. The high mountain ranges lining the valley cause hot air to recirculate rather than dissipate. The area’s low elevation is also responsible for it being the hottest spot in North America. Day time highs in July average 115°F. Hot and dry with clear skies make the park extremely pleasant from late fall to early spring.
