Flora & Fauna (JOTR)

More than 800 species of plants, including the park’s namesake, can be found at Joshua Tree National Park. It’s a collection so diverse and unique that park supporters originally suggested the area be called “Desert Plants National Park.” There’s also exceptional animal diversity. More than 50 species of mammals and 250 species of birds have been documented. Animals are commonly seen near sources of water like fan palm oases, Barker Dam, or Smith Water Canyon.
