Camping (JOTR)

Joshua Tree National Park has nine designated campgrounds. Black Rock (100 sites) and Indian Cove (101) are the only campgrounds that accept reservations. Sites cost $15/night and can be reserved up to six months in advance from October through May by calling (877) 444-6777 or clicking www.recreation.gov. All other campgrounds are first-come, first-served. From north to south on Park Boulevard and Pinto Basin Road are the following campgrounds: Hidden Valley (45 sites, $10/night), Ryan (31, $10), Sheep Pass (6 group sites, $25), Jumbo Rocks (124, $10), Belle (18, $10), White Tank (15, $10), and Cottonwood (62, $15). Water and flush toilets are available at Black Rock and Cottonwood. Water is also available at Oasis Visitor Center, Indian Cove Ranger Station, and West Entrance. There are no showers or hook-ups within the park, but you can find showers (fee) outside the park across the road from Joshua Tree Visitor Center. Group sites are available at Indian Cove, Sheep Pass, and Cottonwood (reservation required up to one year in advance at 877.444.6777 or www.recreation.gov). All campsites have fire rings, but you must bring your own wood.
