Mountain weather is unpredictable. The best you can do is to have a contingency plan for all possible conditions. One of the most disappointing aspects of the park is that its 14,410-ft mountain is often hidden behind a blanket of clouds. July and August are typically the clearest, driest, and warmest months of the year. At Paradise (5,400-ft elevation), summer average highs are in the low 60s°F with lows in the mid-40s°F. The area’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean helps moderate seasonal changes in temperature. Winter highs average in the mid-30s°F with lows in the low 20s°F. Expect Longmire (2,762-ft) to be a few degrees warmer than Paradise and Ohanapecosh (1,950-ft) to be a few degrees warmer than Longmire.
