Directions (OLYM)

Olympic is not the most convenient park for motorists. No road crosses the Olympic Mountain Range, but 12 separate roads penetrate the main park boundary encircling Mount Olympus. In addition, a sliver of Pacific coastline has three separate regions with their own access point. No matter where you’re headed you’ll be traveling on US-101. Park Headquarters is located in Port Angeles, where most trips begin. Several different routes can be utilized between Port Angeles and Seattle. Motorists can use the Washington State Ferry System or drive south around Puget Sound via Tacoma or Olympia.

Port Angeles via Tacoma (~140 miles): Heading south on I-5, take Exit 132 to merge onto WA-16 W toward Bremerton. Cross the Tacoma Narrows Bridge (eastbound toll, $4). Just before Bremerton, WA-16 becomes WA-3. At Hood Canal Bridge WA-3 becomes WA-104. After about 15 miles, take the ramp to US-101 N. Continue north to Port Angeles.

Port Angeles via Olympia (~180 miles): Head south on I-5 from Seattle. After about 60 miles, take Exit 104 to merge onto US-101 N. Continue along the eastern edge of the Olympic Peninsula for about 118 miles to Port Angeles.
