Regions (REDW)

Northern Region:

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park: The northernmost unit of the park is home to Hiouchi Information Center (summer only), camping, fishing, and Howland Hill Road (unpaved), which leads to many of the area’s hiking trailheads.

Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park: A large undeveloped region home to camping (summer only) and plenty of hiking.

Park Headquarters (1111 2nd St.) is located in Crescent City.

Southern Region:

Redwood National Park: This is the most disjointed of all the National Parks. There are plots of park land in both the northern and southern halves, but most of the area consists of a large tract south of Prairie Creek where you’ll find two of the most popular areas: Lady Bird Johnson Grove and Tall Trees Grove (permit required). These sites are accessed by Bald Hills Road.

Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park: Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway enters this scenic area from US-101. You’ll find information and exhibits at Prairie Creek Visitor Center. Camping is available at Elk Prairie Campground. An abundance of hiking trails fan out from Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway.
