There are 75 giant sequoia groves in the two parks containing more than 15,800 trees. These behemoths only grow on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada, mostly between 5 – 7,000 feet elevation. Each park has one especially popular grove. Sequoia’s Giant Forest is home to five of the ten largest trees in the world, including General Sherman, the world’s largest tree. Kings Canyon’s Grant Grove is home to General Grant, the world’s second largest tree.
