Rock Climbing (SEKI)

Rock found at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks is similar to Yosemite in terms of quality and quantity. The main difference is that you have to pack up your gear and hike (usually a full-day) to the best climbing locations. In Kings Canyon, Bubbs Creek Trail (part of Rae Lakes Loop) is a good place to find multi-pitch climbing routes. Moro Rock (Sequoia) is the most easily accessible feature for climbing. There are also excellent options along High Sierra Trail. Climbing in remote regions is not recommended for inexperienced climbers. Sierra Mountain Guides (877.423.2546, www.sierramtnguides.com) offers a variety of introductory courses and custom trips throughout the eastern Sierra.
