Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are open year-round. The parks are busiest on summer weekends. Some campgrounds and lodging facilities close for the winter, but you can almost always find a place to spend the night any time of year. If you can’t find a campsite in the park, campgrounds are also available at adjacent Sequoia National Forest and Monument. During winter the roads to Cedar Grove and Mineral King close. Generals Highway is open year-round, but closes during heavy snowstorms. From December to April visitors can cross-country ski around Giant Forest, but most visitors arrive between spring and fall.
