Directions (YOSE)

Yosemite National Park is located in east-central California’s Sierra Nevada. There are a total of five park entrances. Hetch Hetchy Entrance, leading to O’Shaughnessy Dam and Hetch Hetchy Backpackers Camp, is only open during daylight hours. It does not connect to Yosemite Valley and is far less crowded. Big Oak Flat and Arch Rock Entrance enter the park from the west. South Entrance enters from the south via Oakhurst, CA. On the eastern side you’ll find Tioga Pass Entrance Station. Due to high elevation (9,945 feet) the entrance and Tioga Road usually close from November until April (depending on the weather).

To Hetch Hetchy: From CA-120, on the park’s western side, turn left onto Evergreen Road just before you reach Big Oak Flat Entrance Station. Continue on Evergreen Road for about 7 miles and then turn right at Hetch Hetchy Road, which leads to the reservoir and camp.

To Big Oak Flat Entrance: From San Francisco/Oakland take I-580 E and continue onto I-205 E. Merge onto I-5 N. After less than a mile on I-5 take Exit 461 to CA-120. Follow CA-120 to Big Oak Flat Entrance.

To Arch Rock Entrance: From CA-99, take CA-140 E/Yosemite Pkwy at Merced, which leads into the park.

To South Entrance: From Fresno, take CA-41 N through Oakhurst into the park.

To Tioga Pass Entrance: From US-395/US-6 take US-395 north from Bishop. After about 64 miles turn left onto CA-120/Tioga Road. It is 12 miles to the entrance.
