What To Do Now
I started this book by saying that you can be on your way to a SUPER memory in 30 days. I am a good example of this claim because at 67 (having my memory destroyed by years of medication), address each one of my acquaintances by his or her proper name. This has radically changed my social and professional life. This has also changed the way people who relate to me. They now WANT to talk to me because I make them feel special and very good by addressing them by their personal names.
When I started my memory training using the approach mentioned in this book, my social life was like a jumbled jigsaw puzzle. I met many people, spoke to many, smiled at many, but still they were like an unordered puzzle. Sure, they were all pieces of one huge puzzle, but I was not able to link them into a picture in my mind. But no more. My main diary, the tiny diary in my pocket, the crossword puzzle, and the tangram have all changed my life.
YOU are the next. YES, you too CAN do it. I suggest the following steps to take in the next 30 days.
The First Two Weeks:
●
Get a good A5 size diary and start using it from day 1.
●
Get a small pocket diary and start using it from day 1.
●
Review names in whichever diary is handy at a given moment.
●
Review names of the people you expect to meet on a given day. This reinforces your memory.
The Third Week
●
Check and revise the list of 10 items if needed.
●
Check and find the right kind of crossword puzzles.
●
By the books or print the crosswords and keep a large number handy everywhere you go.
●
Keep the correction tape with you.
●
Do the crossword every time you can do them, even if it is a five minute break.
●
Make it a life-long habit. You will not regret doing it.
The Fourth Week
●
Get a good, portable, magnetic tangram.
●
Make one for you if magnetic ones are not available.
●
Buy a good book with tangram designs.
●
You can also download from the net and print some tangrams.
●
Carry it everywhere with you and attempt to make those shapes even when you get a five-minute break.
●
Keep tangrams with you as long as you can because the human brain needs exercise throughout life.
After The Fourth Week
●
By the end of the fourth week you will start seeing a substantial change.
●
This is only the beginning and greater things are yet to come.
●
So do not abandon your memory training half-way.
●
Continue with the four things above.
●
Add random number memorization-at-a-glance now if you can.
●
Continue with this as long as you can.
●
Develop the habit of contriving your own mnemonics similar to VIBGYOR to handle essential sets or list of items.
●
NEVER give up.
What If There Is An Interruption?
Many people fear taking up a new project worried that it might be interrupted. We need to remember the following things about interruption.
●
Interruption is a given in human life.
●
We are never able to do anything without interruption.
●
Even eating food is interrupted at times due to travel, accidents, or any number of reasons that can force us to skp food.
●
However, nobody stops taking in food fearing interruption.
●
Also, nobody stops taking in food after there is an interruption.
●
Similarly, nobody should hesitate taking up a memory training program fearing interruption.
●
If the memory training is interrupted due to any unforeseen reasons, there is nothing to worry.
●
Pick up your training as soon as possible, and in a day or two you will find that you are back to normal efficiency.
●
Just as none of us avoids any essential activity fearing interruptions, none of us should avoid memory training fearing unseen interruptions.
