Mike Solyom spent over twenty years in the US Air Force where he did many things including lead a silent drill team, make a late night clear of the base gym in search of an intruder, and set up a forward operating base while spending most days of that operation in full chem gear. But where he really feels at home is as a computer programmer which is how he ended up at the Air Force Wargaming Institute. There he worked on war games that were used to teach the next generation of Air Force leaders how to fight air wars as well as giving the current generation of leaders a place to try out new strategies.

After the Air Force, Mike went on to continue the programming trade at the National Security Agency. While there he got to work on a lot of things that would never make it to the headlines and was there when the operation to take down Osama bin Laden was executed. If there's one thing he learned during his time at the Fort it was that what gets shown in a 24-hour news cycle and what happens in real life are two totally separate and unconnected things.

Now Mike lives in Maryland where he spends his free time in an underground bunker writing stories about special operations and secret air wars.
