Natan Sharansky was a political prisoner in the Soviet Union and served in four Israeli cabinets. The sole living non-US citizen to receive both the Congressional Gold Medal (in 1986) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (in 2006), Sharansky won the 2018 Israel Prize for exceptional contribution to the State of Israel and the 2020 Genesis Prize for outstanding professional achievement, contribution to humanity, and commitment to Jewish values. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife, Avital. He has two daughters and seven grandchildren.

He lives in Jerusalem with his wife, Linda. They have four children.
