The Boys from Baker Street
Grace Smoczyk
There are two boys from Baker Street;
To meet them would be quite the treat!
But alas! That cannot be,
For they lived long ago, you see.
But for those who love them well,
Of them, we can tell!
I am one of these,
So listen well if you please!
One ‘boy’ is tall and dark
On your life, he’ll leave a mark.
He is full of mischief and fun,
But puts villains on the run
For he is also terribly smart,
And pretends not to have a heart.
But we know better, of course,
And can feel no remorse.
With the power of his mind he can show the way,
Show the way, and save the day.
He helps those with needs,
And performs great deeds.
Deeds of daring and might-
Thrusting him to great height
For his name goes down throughout history,
As the supreme solver of mystery.
Mention his name, and criminals shake
For with that name, their fears awake.
He is ever here, with truth and judgment in his hand,
Bringing justice throughout all the land.
Sherlock Holmes is his name,
And to the world he came.
A role to fill, a destiny to complete,
To perform the most daring feat;
To help the helpless, both rich and poor
For his help, people came from every shore.
A hero, a legend, alone he stands,
A model of greatness to all lands.
With jet black hair and eyes of grey,
He’s a hero, here to stay.
But where would our hero be without his one true friend-
The one with him to the end?
Dr. John Watson: kind and true
Loyal throughout the dangers they go through.
Lovable and smart; though somewhat dim,
Patiently putting up with Sherlock’s whim.
He is the other ‘boy’ from Baker Street,
This dangerous duo, no criminal can beat!
So villains beware,
Cross these two-if you dare!
They have no age, they’re always here,
Perhaps that is why they are so dear.
So now you see why it would be a treat,
To meet the ‘boys’ from Baker Street!
