Chapter Seventeen
CAM
Cam kept training Thea, though it was hardly necessary at this point.
She fought him with almost perfect technique, her jabs, kicks, and punches connecting with his body almost too fast for him to catch her. He was impressed with her speed and agility. For a relatively new Nephilim with very little combat experience, she was incredible. Thea was even better than many of the young warriors he’d trained to become Power angels. He had never seen anything quite like her style or ferocity.
At the end of their session, they made their way back to Thea’s apartment and flopped down onto the couch. Cam pulled Thea on top of him so that she was lying on his chest, her cheek pressed to his skin. He threaded his fingers through her hair and relished the feeling of her pressed up against him.
“I saw my dad yesterday,” she said, snuggling into his body.
Cam almost jolted with surprise.
“It was weird,” she continued. “I asked him about my mom and he seemed to know what I was talking about, but then he closed down and forgot everything I had said. It’s like he went blank. Is that normal?”
Cam‘s mind raced. Thea’s father was human? So that meant that her mother had been an angel. That was highly unusual. He didn’t even realize it was possible. He needed to talk to Zak, urgently.
“Hey. Are you okay?”
Cam glanced at her and smiled, aware that the shock had increased his breathing. “Yes, just thinking. I thought your mother was the human.”
“No, it’s my father,” Thea said. “He didn’t even truly bring me up properly. He has mental problems but the doctors say he’s fine…” she trailed off.
Cam said nothing, allowing silence to surround them. He wanted her to feel comfortable to talk to him. He continued to stroke her shoulder, watching her lovely face as she puckered her lips to chew the inside of her cheek.
After a few long minutes, she continued. “I suppose I shouldn't have expected him to remember my mom. The things he said may not have even been true knowing him.” She shrugged. “I guess I was just hoping, you know?”
“If your dad is human,” he said, “your mom was most definitely an angel. But I don’t really know any more than that. I don’t have knowledge of what other Nephilim are like with their remaining parent. I have a meeting with my commander in an hour. I will ask him.”
Thea lifted her head to look at his face, then lowered her lips to his and kissed him softly. She did it once, twice, then again before slipping her tongue into his mouth to deepen the kiss. He responded by shuffling underneath her so that she was straddling his lap, her pussy rubbing against his cock through the fabric of their clothes.
“We don’t have time for this,” she whispered, though she continued to grind against him, making him harder and harder. “You have to go, remember?”
He emitted a soft grumble and kissed her, lifting his hips in rhythm with her movements. Thea sighed.
“When will you be back?” Her eyes locked onto his.
“As soon as I can.” He lifted his face to kiss her.
She leaned into his ear. “I want you to come before you go.”
His cock jerked at the warmth of her breath tickling his ear. She climbed down his body and unbuckled his trousers, pulling them down as he lifted his hips. She kept her eyes on him the whole time, almost daring him to refuse her. When she caught sight of his cock, hardening as each second passed, she grinned and licked the length of him.
He sucked a breath in as she reached the tip, now completely hard. She took him into her mouth, wrapping her lips around his cock and taking him deep. He groaned, enjoying the warm suction of her mouth, starting gentle and getting rougher. He sunk into the couch, pushing his hips forward, allowing her to work on him. She moved to kneel between his legs, sucking up and down his shaft with her hot, wet mouth and licking his tip at intervals. She glanced up at him, and he moaned at the smile in her gorgeous eyes. His balls tightened, and the orgasm arrived in storming waves, crashing over him as she teased his cum out of him.
“Fuuuck,” Cam breathed, as she continued to lick him. “You’re going to kill me, woman.”
She lifted her head up, a cheeky grin on her face. “Imagine that? A powerful warrior angel undone by a blow job.”
“No.” Cam lay sunken in the couch, his breath heavy. “Undone by a beautiful, blue-eyed Nephilim.”
Thea stilled, sobering.
“With the most delicious pussy,” he said, deadly serious, “and the sexiest warrior snarls.”
Thea’s face widened and she dropped her eyes, a splendid shade of pink creeping over her face.
Cam smiled, amazed at how appealing she was when she was self-conscious. His spent cock was already stirring with desire as he admired her. “You are just as gorgeous when you’re shy as when you’re demanding that I take you roughly.” Desire laced his tone, but he couldn’t help it.
She glanced back up at him but didn’t seem to be able to say anything, her ears now nearly a deep red.
He leaned forward, his face inches from hers. “It seems I need to compliment you to shut you up. I wish I had known that earlier.”
She burst into laughter and he pulled her into a tender kiss, chuckling with her.
He leaned back and her sparkling eyes widened as they rested on his cock, which was slowly growing hard again.
***
He was late for his meeting with Zak.
Thea had ridden him hard in her bed. As he flew over the Empire, heading to Zak’s office, he licked his lips recalling her bouncing breasts above him. He had squeezed them, teasing her nipples while she moaned and rubbed her clit. Cam had pulled her hand from between her legs and pressed her fingers to his lips, tasting the juice from her pussy with a swipe of his tongue. He took her other hand, too, when she tried to touch herself again, and she moaned in frustration. Her pussy sucked him in and Cam held her hands against his chest, thrusting up into her and meeting her downward grind. He freed her hands but she didn’t move them, instead, dug her nails into his chest as he rubbed her clit for her. Thea’s body collapsed onto his so that they were chest-to-chest, her hips moving in a feverish rhythm. Cam took her mouth in a kiss and captured her moans with his lips as she came hard all over him.
Cam’s cock hardened to rock just replaying it in his head. He flew to a floating building near Zak’s and landed on the roof, his breathing erratic. He paced, shifting out of his angel-form, trying to calm himself. What was she doing to him? He had never been affected like this before.
After they had made love, he didn’t have the willpower to leave until after he had held her in his arms for a while. They had settled into a comfortable position, Thea’s back against Cam’s chest, her body nestled into the crook he made with his body. She was so small compared to him: smooth where he was rough, lean where he was bulky, soft where he was hard. He took great pleasure in caressing her—brushing her skin with his palms, raking his nails along her scalp, running his fingers through her thick hair. It was instinctive, possessive, and her sighs and whines from his touch comforted him. Soon he was fondling her breasts and sucking the back of her neck while she shuddered. And a short while later, he was pounding into her sopping wet pussy while she hitched her leg up and arched her back to give him deeper access. As he climaxed, he realized he’d never get enough of her. Ever.
His worry about her unusual family couldn’t penetrate his need for her. His urge to protect and claim his stunningly sensual Nephilim was overwhelming and he didn’t know how he was going to cope not seeing her while on assignment. He needed to speak to Zak.
He stared out over the Empire, watching angels go about their duties. The Empire looked enormous from this view. The tall and wide buildings spanned into the distance, their colors complementing each other—from silvers to blues, creams to golds, pinks to whites—with only patches of green to break them up. Above them, the floating buildings drifted. The Stream stretched up to the clouded, blue sky, it’s energy possible to feel even from this distance and yet Cam still resisted it.
As soon as his body calmed, he shifted again and resumed his flight to Zak’s office, dropping down in front of his door before returning to his normal form.
Zak opened the door before he had a chance to knock. “You’re extremely late.”
Cam dipped his head in respect. “Apologies, Commander.”
Zak’s eyes ran over him and Cam breathed shallowly as he assessed him. Cam felt like he had gone through an intense transformation since the last time they met. Could Zak tell how much he had changed by just a look?
Finally, Zak gestured inside. “Come in.”
Zak’s office was a spacious, turquoise room simply decorated with a mahogany desk and two chairs in the center. Zak met with the numerous Power angels daily and his office reflected his professionalism.
“How are you faring, Camael?” The commander settled into the chair behind the desk. “How is the girl?”
“Fine,” Cam said, a little too quickly. He squared his shoulders. “More than fine, actually. I’m impressed with her progress.”
“So she’s following your instruction?”
“She is.” Cam paused for a moment, holding Zak’s eye. “I have a concern, though.”
“What?”
“She told me today she’d been to see her father. He is human.”
Zak frowned. “Her father is the human parent?”
Cam nodded.
Zak rose slowly from his desk, disbelief filtering through his face. “Her mother was the angel?”
“You didn’t know?” Cam asked.
“No,” Zak said, sharply. “Didn’t you? I told you to look into her history when you told me she was powerful.”
Cam hid his guilt with a scowl. “I was busy training her.”
“It has been how long?” Zak’s eyes were liquid gold. “A number of months? You didn’t have time to do your due diligence for months?”
Cam pressed his lips together and lifted his head. “I have been… distracted by her, Zakiel.”
Zak tilted his head, a hint of amusement on his face. “Distracted?”
Cam breathed out gently. “We have become close.”
Zak burst into a warm laugh and Cam regarded him with confusion and shock.
“You look so serious about it, Cam,” Zak said, smiling. “You’re not the first angel to be attracted to their trainee. I think it has been good for you. You seem different. Content.”
Cam didn’t let Zak’s hilarity affect him. “Zak. It is serious. She can see my halo.”
Zak’s laughter faded away. He leaned forward on his desk, his wide hands taking the weight of his upper body as he stared at Cam. “So she is your natural mate. Shit.” He fell into his thoughts for a moment before looking sharply at Cam. “Have you mated?”
“No.”
Zak shook his head in amazement. “How can you resist?”
“I don’t know,” Cam admitted. “I try to stay out of my angel-form.”
Zak nodded. “Do you want to mate with her?”
Cam hesitated. “I made a vow—”
“I know. I’m asking you if you want to break that vow?”
Cam was taken aback. “It was a vow, Zak.”
“It was a silly vow,” Zak said, almost scowling. “Kara wouldn’t expect you to forsake your natural mate for her. She’d kick your ass.”
Cam laughed, rubbing his chin. “She would.”
“No one would expect that kind of vow to hold up against the discovery of one’s natural mate, Cam. You know how rare it is.” Zak sat back down. “So, do you want to mate her?”
Cam thought of Thea; of her grace, her smile, her sexual responsiveness, her wetness, her fierceness… “I do.”
“I don’t have to tell you that angels do not mate with Nephilim.”
“Have you never heard of any instance of it?” Cam hated the desperate tinge in his tone, but he couldn’t help it. He needed her.
“No,” Zak said, almost apologetically. “I would petition the Thrones and see if they will allow it.”
Cam sighed. While the Dominion League oversaw the duties of angels, the Thrones governed all elements of the Realm and were the ruling angels on important angel realm matters. They could sometimes be difficult, from what he had heard. Cam had only had direct contact with them once when he was paired with Karaya, but it had been a brief meeting on the matter and was just an average daily routine for the Thrones. This time would be most definitely be different—Cam didn’t know if he could convince them that he should be allowed to mate with a Nephilim. Nephilim weren’t considered as pure as angels and therefore weren’t ideal partners. And what if they said no? That would be unbearable.
“You will need to meet with them,” Zak said, interrupting his thoughts, “which will be difficult. I advise you arrange the meeting straight away if you want to see them soon.”
“What do I do?”
“You have to wait in their sanctum until they turn up to see you,” Zak said, gesturing to the Thrones’ sanctum on the other side of the Empire. “They may give you a later date or they might see you straight away.”
Cam’s jaw slacked. “How long does that take?”
Zak shrugged. “Some have waited for days or weeks. I’ve known some to wait for months.”
“Angel Realm months?” Cam asked. He whistled when Zak nodded. That was ‘nuts’, as Thea would say. He smiled, thinking of the fire in her demeanor the first time they’d met.
“That smile looks like you’re going to wait.”
Cam lifted his eyes to meet his commanders’. “Only with your blessing.”
Zak maneuvered around his desk and grasped Cam’s shoulder. “I have seen you go through terrible hurt and pain, Cam. I am pleased and comforted to know that the Creator has blessed you in this way. You don’t need to ask for my blessing when you already have hers.” His held out his hand and smiled. Cam stood and took it. “But even if you didn’t, I would give it freely. I wish you luck with the Thrones.”
“Thank you.” Gladness bloomed inside him that he had the support and blessing of an angel he had looked up to for so long.
“One thing, though,” Zak said, moving away. “Don’t mention anything about Thea’s history or abilities.”
Cam frowned. “To the Thrones?” It was dishonest to keep things from any ruling or commanding angel. Why would Zak encourage that?
“To anyone,” Zak said. “Just for now until you can find out more about her. It might complicate their approval.”
Cam nodded, understanding. Still, something seemed off about that request. He stood rooted to the spot, watching Zak. “Have you…” he cleared his throat. “Have you had experience with that before, Commander?”
Zak sat back down at his desk. “I wish you luck, Camael.” He was dismissed.
Cam thanked him and left quickly. He and Zak had never spoken openly about their sexual lives or anything to do with their feelings. Cam had not particularly cared before, but now curiosity burned him. He shifted into his angel-form and stretched his wings, shaking the feeling away. He had no right to pry into his trusted Commander’s personal history. Zakiel was helping him, and it was great to have his support.
He took to the air and made his way toward the Thrones’ Sanctum, trying to prepare himself for what would come next.
