Buying What You Need is His Necessity

Dear Ms. Sincere Jones

I am so mad. I could spit fire. I have been waiting for a diamond bracelet for a long time. I thought my boyfriend was smart enough to take hints to buy it for my birthday. Do you know what I received as a birthday gift? He bought me a beautiful coat. I mean, it was a nice gift, but I wanted the diamond bracelet. Maybe it is my fault because I have been talking about buying a coat all winter long. When I talked to my girlfriends, they agreed with me. They couldn’t believe that he didn’t take the hint. I have been giving him the silent treatment for a couple of days. He said, “I was ungrateful.” How am I ungrateful? Well, he is stupid. We have been together for five years, and he cannot take a hint of what I want? Seriously, it isn’t that hard. Ms. Sincere Jones, maybe you can help him.

Sincerely,

Ms. Obvious

Dear Ms. Obvious

I don’t understand why you are so mad at him. He is a man. Most men buy what you need. It is that simple. He might watch ESPN, but he does not have ESP. He cannot read your mind. You are too harsh on him. It sounds like you have a good man. If you don’t change your attitude, you might lose him. Men like to feel appreciated. When their good deeds go without appreciation, most men will stop doing everything. Most men will start looking for women who will appreciate their good deeds. If you wanted the diamond bracelet, you should have told him. Most men like to keep it nice and simple. There are no underlying meanings.

As for your friends, they are wrong too. If they were really your friends, they would have told you what I am telling you. Most women haven’t figured out that guys live a life of simplicity. They don’t like complication. Your boyfriend is probably shaking his head. He is trying to figure out what he did wrong. He did nothing wrong. I would suggest you apologize. If I was you, I start treating your man like a man instead of treating him like a stepchild. I hope you take what I said to heart.

Sincerely,

Ms. Sincere Jones

In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures. James 1:17-18
