Chapter 244 Why Are You Following Me
Jane! What a silly name!
"Well, if you know me, why don't you want to talk to me?" This boy was so impolite! He was more annoying than Sven .
Daniel wrinkled his brow, looking like his father. "I'm ignoring you!"
He descended from the sofa and left the booth.
'Ignoring me?' Clinching her fists, Jane hurried along after him.
"Where are you two going?" asked Ella curiously.
Daniel turned back to reply, "Aunt, I'll come back soon."
"So will I, mommy." echoed Jane.
"Take good care of little Jane, Daniel, " said Lola to her son while shelling the nuts.
Daniel seemed to want to say something, but he eventually buried it down with the rest of his moldering resentments. He nodded and then walked out in a hurry.
He kept walking along the lotus pond, totally ignoring Jane who was never far behind him with some complaint or another.
He walked so fast that it took Jane great effort on her tiny legs to follow him.
She complained while trotting. "Daniel Si. Why are you so mean?"
"If I'm so mean, then why are you following me? You idiot!" Daniel stopped all of a sudden, and Jane hurtled into him.
She bounced off him, waving her arms wildly as she fell backwards. She came down with a splash into the lotus pond .
"Ah! Help!"
She punched a hole through the water when she broke through, soaking her clothes through.
Thankfully, the water was shallow. So Daniel just stood aside, refusing to help her.
Two waitresses hoisted Jane out of water in a panic. They wrung out her light purple sweater and skirt as best they could.
Jane stared at Daniel with a shiver. She shook off the waitresses, and pounced on Daniel, biting his arm like a feral dog.
His arm was exposed because it was warm inside of the hotel and a T-shirt was enough to keep him warm. She dug her teeth into his flesh, trying to leave an ineradicable mark. Though Daniel were suffering great pain, he bore it without hitting her back.
Finally, Jane let all her anger drain out of her body. "Daniel Si, I will never ever hang out with you again!" She left without looking back.
Though her clothes were mighty wet, she never relinquished that incendiary air of arrogance.
Back in the booth, the parents treated them quite differently .
Lola held Jane in her arms. It made her heart ache to see her wet all over. Samuel hurriedly turned the thermostat up. Eason sent a waiter to bring some spare clothes for Jane.
In contrast, Daniel got a good beating from his father.
When Daniel sat back down on his sore bottom, he decided from that moment on that Jane was a wicked girl.
The bite mark remained on his arm for a long time.
The new year was coming.
The Shao's villa rang with cheers and laughter. The two kids were the life and soul of that New Year's Eve.
Ella and Samuel made dumplings together for the whole family.
Near midnight, they cuddled in bed and waited for the countdown to ring out.
Samuel turned over, and leaned above Ella as the clock struck 12. "Darling, Happy New Year! I love you!"
"Honey, I love you too!"
Samuel gradually lost himself in kissing.
He fumbled to turn off the HD TV with the remote. The room was now quiet, except for their rapid gasps.
As they were kissing fiercely, the kids knocked on the door. "Daddy, mommy, open the door please! "
"Daddy, mommy, happy new year! We want our lucky money!"
...
The kids, who should have been sleeping at this point, banged like monsters on the door.
Samuel felt regretful immediately. Why did he choose to spend this wonderful night with these naughty kids?
Ella pushed Samuel over gently. "Better not keep them waiting. Open the door."
"Jerry Shao, put your sister to sleep!" he boomed.
"Daddy, we will go back to sleep as soon as we get out lucky money!" Jerry was so devoted to this plan that he had set an alarm at midnight on the dot to come and ask him for money.
Samuel gnashed his teeth, and then closed his eyes in resignation. "Jerry Shao, if you make me open the door now, I promise you will regret it. But if you can wait until tomorrow morning, then you'll get ten-thousand. You have my words."
"I want one-hundred-thousand!" Jerry said ecstatically, trying to squeeze his father for all he was worth.
"Daddy, I want two-hundred-thousand! I want to save my money!" Jane bargained. Jane and Samuel had already built a strong enough tie between them that Samuel saw Jane as his bona fide daughter .
"You are too little to manage financial affairs!" Samuel yelled. After some silence, he thought the argument had been won, and eager to resume cuddling, he placed a hand on Ella's bare hip.
But the banging began again, louder, and more monstrous than before. Ella's soft skin seemed so enticing that he couldn't restrain his desire. He decided it was worth doling out the little money they'd requested comparing to a wonderful night of precious sensuality. "Go back to sleep. Both of you. I will give you the money tomorrow morning."
They cheered and left.
Samuel lay there satisfied, focusing on his wife's body.
The next morning.
Ella was still sleeping when Samuel finished his breakfast. He didn't want to wake her up.
She should take the opportunity to have a good rest. So he walked downstairs quietly. In the living hall, Jane and Jerry were greeting their elders.
They took their thick red envelope and turned to Viola. "Grandma, happy new year. We wish you all the best this year!"
Samuel threw a sideways glance at his two kids. Their good wishes to Viola seemed to be the result of what they had just been discussing.
The three elders also gave the children good tidings .
Viola pointed at the red envelope. "My good kids, take good care of it."
They swiped through the contents of the envelope, overjoyed. "Thank you, grandma! Oh thank you, thank you!"
Jane even kissed Viola on her cheek. "Grandma, it's so nice of you!"
Viola couldn't have been more pleased with this response.
Samuel sat down close to Melody, adjusting the knots of his cuff. The two kids rushed to greet him. "Good morning, daddy! Happy new year, daddy!"
"The same to you." said Samuel lightly.
Two kids looked at each other, wondering whether their father remembered his promise.
"Daddy, you know...last night...what you said, " muttered Jerry tentatively.
Samuel pretended to remember it.
"Ah yes. I forget to prepare the money, " teased Samuel.
Hearing this, Jerry felt shortchanged.
Jerry and Jane's ravenous smile turned bitter. All of a sudden, Jerry took out a voice recorder. "Daddy, I have it recorded!"
Jerry recollected that his father had told him, "Always keep evidence." After all, lip service was invalid, unless there was a record.
