* You really do just go online and put cancer cell lines in your shopping cart. I randomly selected a life sciences company that sells three hundred thousand products, found the cancer cell lines, selected ovarian cancer cell lines from two dozen types of cancers, then clicked on three different cell lines, adding them to my cart as I would do with books or socks on Amazon. They were about $300 each. I clicked my cart and had to register. I stopped there because (1) I would rather buy socks and books than ovarian cancer cell lines, and (2) I’m pretty sure that at some point I was going to have to prove I was a scientist qualified to buy such items. But it was fun to see how easy it is for real researchers to purchase them for studies.
