* Unfortunately, Kathy and Cody and the other Hope volunteers are staying busy with natural disasters. As I was wrapping up this chapter a little more than a year after the fire, we had to keep the windows of the house shut because of thick smoke overwhelming San Francisco from another wildfire. This one, in Butte County, about three hours from San Francisco, is known as the Camp fire. It now holds the awful record of being the most deadly and destructive wildfire in California’s history.
