We all know what penguins do, right? Stand around on frozen ground in big groups. Waddle back and forth to the sea. But for penguins, that’s the proverbial tip of the iceberg. Most penguins spend at least 60 percent of their lives swimming in the ocean, diving for food, and trying not to become food for a predator. They do all of this to ensure the survival of their species—to feed their young and to pass along their genetic material. They only stand around when the documentary film crews are there.
