Though cold-climate penguins, like the Adélie, chinstrap, and emperor, seem to have better PR agents, there are lesser known species like Galapagos and Humbolt penguins that actually thrive in tropical seas. Countless small evolutionary adaptations have given rise to seventeen distinct species of penguin. Had they not adapted over the millennia, there would likely be no penguins left at all—all of which serves as a nice little reminder that we can roll with the changes, or have changes roll over us.
