What do you think it takes to be a woman of character today? Do you consider yourself to be such a woman? From MTV to CosmoGIRL!, you are bombarded daily with messages about how you dress, who you date, what you choose to do on a date, and much more. If you are not careful, it can be easy to develop a habit of racing fast-forward through your teen years, striving to be the woman everyone expects you to be, yet never becoming the woman God has created you to be. Halter tops, spaghetti straps, and hip-huggers may seem to be the important topics of the day, but what matters most is not the condition of your outward appearance, but rather the purpose God created you for.
Who do you want to be? Are you the woman you really want to be or the woman you believe everyone else expects you to be?
What characteristics define you as a woman?
Write them here:
And now, my daughter, don't be afraid. I will do for you all you ask.
All my fellow townsmen know that you are a woman of noble character.
Ruth 3:11
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Consider your walk as a woman. Has it ever occurred to you
that you were created for more than you are experiencing
right now? Think about this: Could it be that you are missing
out on something bigger, greater, more awesome, challenging,
inspiring, and fulfilling than the present?
“I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and
better life than they ever dreamed of.”
John 10:10 (The Message)
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.
Proverbs 31:26 (The Message)
Have you ever been caught in a lie? If so, then you probably remember that you had to keep telling lies to cover up the previous lie.
Do not lie.
Leviticus 19:11
How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the
map of your Word. I'm single-minded in pursuit of you; don't let me
miss the road signs you've posted. I've banked your promises in the
vault of my heart so I won't sin myself bankrupt.
Psalm 119:9-11 (The Message)
What do you live for?
Whatever is in your circle, that is the thing or person you are living for. If God is not in the circle, what steps can you begin to take to bring Him closer to the circle and eventua'ly into the circle?
Write down those steps you need to take to make God the priority in your life.
Write a prayer asking Him to help you make Him the “thing” in your circle.
There will be times in life when circumstances overtake you and you have no satisfying answer for why you have to have such a hard time.
Death. Hurt. Pain. Unfair circumstances. Tragedy.
During times when answers cannot be found, remember:
God is still in control.
God has not left you.
God is still God.
I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Joshua 1:5
Sometimes, in order to stop repeating the same mistakes, you must take drastic measures to avoid re-entering the same environment in which you previously failed.
Before your last date, how many different outfits did you try on before deciding on the “one”?
Is there an area of your life that says: DO NOT ENTER!
Remember, God cannot lead you until He owns you. He cannot give you the best until you give Him all of you. If there is an area of your life that you are keeping from Him, don't you think it is time to let go? He knows exactly what you are feeling, thinking, hiding, and going through.
Write a prayer and give it over to Him.
