In 1996, DNA evidence collected in November 1984 from the body of Lisa Ann Monzo, 18, helped to convict Ihde of her rape and murder.
Daveggio’s friend Michael Ihde, 28, was convicted of raping Gloria Hazelwood in 1986.

Kellie Poppleton, 14, of Fremont, California, died in the emergency room after having been found strangled and sexually molested on December 2, 1983.
The 1983 decision to cremate Poppleton’s body so she could rest with her maternal grandmother has unwittingly prevented present-day police from using modern DNA evidence to identify her killer.
