Suzanne’s Famous Sloppy Joe’s

Ingredients:

2 lbs. of ground beef  (In attempt to make these sandwiches as healthy as possible, I use the leanest ground beef I can find. Usually 96% fat free.)

1 can of tomato paste (12 oz. size)

1 3/4 cups Ketchup

1/3 cup minced onion (Sometimes I take a short cut and use dried minced onion.)

3 tbsp. of sweet relish

3-4 tbsp. of finely chopped celery

2 tbsp. of brown sugar

3/4 tsp. of garlic powder

1/4 tsp. of chili powder

1/2 of a green bell pepper, diced

One dozen hamburger buns

Optional:  12 slices of the cheese of your choice (I use fat free Cheddar in another bow to health.)

Directions:

Brown the ground beef in a large pot. Drain off the excess liquid/fat. Add all the other ingredients and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is bubbly hot. Spoon mixture onto hamburger buns, adding a slice of cheese if desired, and serve.

Makes at least 12 sandwiches.
