Ben Fine

DR. BEN FINE IS A MATHEMATICIAN and professor at Fairfield University in Connecticut in the United States. He is a graduate of the MFA program at Fairfield University and is the author of twelve books (ten in mathematics, one on chess, one a political thriller) as well over 130 research articles, four short stories and a novella about Pirates.

He has completed a memoir told in interwoven stories called Tales from Brighton Beach: A Boy Grow in Brooklyn. The stories detail his growing up in Brighton Beach, a seaside neighborhood on the southern tip of Brooklyn, during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Brighton Beach was unique and set apart from the rest of New York City both in character and in time.

The included story represents his continued fascination with cowboys. In his mind, he has always been a cowboy fighting off the outlaws.

Cameron Vanderwerf

CAMERON VANDERWERF is a writer from Chicago. He loves all genres, but westerns have held a special place in his heart ever since he stumbled upon Cormac McCarthy as a teenager.

He is thrilled and honored to be included in this anthology, and he wishes well to all fellow travelers on the American frontier.

E.W. Farnsworth

E. W. FARNSWORTH, A frequent contributor to Zimbell House Publishing anthologies, lives and writes in Arizona. Over eighty of his short stories were published in a variety of venues in 2015. Also published in 2015 were his collected Arizona westerns Desert Sun, Red Blood, his global mystery/thriller about combating cryptocurrency crimes Bitcoin Fandango, and from Zimbell House Publishing, his John Fulghum Mysteries about a hard-boiled Boston detective; and Engaging Rachel, an Anderson romance/thriller.

Contracted to be published by Zimbell House in 2016 are The Pirate Tales and John Fulghum Mysteries, Volume II. Contracted by Audio Arcadia for publication in 2016 is DarkFire at the Edge of Time, Farnsworth’s collection of science fiction and fantasy stories.

E. W. Farnsworth is now working on an epic poem, The Voyage of the Spaceship Arcturus, about the future of humankind when humans, avatars, and artificial intelligences must work together to instantiate a second Eden after the Chaos Wars bring an end to life on Earth.

Garth Pettersen

GARTH PETTERSEN IS a Canadian writer living in the Fraser Valley near Vancouver, BC., where he boards horses and teaches therapeutic riding. He has a Bachelor's Degree in History and a background in Education (History, English, Theatre). Garth taught Writing and English at Western Canada College.

To date, he has written children's stories, a YA novel, adult short stories, an historical novel, and is currently working on a sequel. His short stories have been published or accepted for publication in Queen Anne's Revenge, The Opening Line Literary 'Zine, Dark Gothic Resurrected Magazine, and in anthologies published by Zimbell House, Main Street Rag, and Horrified Press.

Lucy Ann Fiorini

LUCY ANN FIORINI IS a writer and poet who moderates a creative writing group in addition to working full-time. She is based near Washington, D.C. when not traveling. She holds a B.A in English, a B.A. in Communication/Journalism, and an M.A. in Humanities/Literature and is a former college professor of English literature.

She currently writes mysteries, historical fiction, and poetry. Her paranormal western, January at Fort Wayne appeared in the anthology, Luna’s Children: Stranger Worlds and her short story, Montego Bay, was recently published in the anthology, The Adventures of Pirates through Zimbell House Publishing.

A COLORADO NATIVE, Randi is married and has two evil (yet adorable) cats who are the children she didn't have.

She is a member of Lighthouse Writers, Women Writing the West, the Historical Novel Society and has participated extensively in the UCLA Writers Program.

SAMMI COX LIVES IN the UK and spends her time writing and making things. She has been interested in history, archeology, and the natural world since she was a child.

However, it is tales of myth, magic and folklore that have captured her heart, and where she finds the greatest inspiration.

Sharon Frame Gay

SHARON FRAME GAY GREW up a child of the highway, traveling throughout the United States, playing by the side of the road. Her dream was to live in a house long enough to find her way around in the dark, and she has finally achieved this outside Seattle, Washington.

She writes poetry, prose poetry, short stories and song lyrics.

Walter Sanville

WALTER SANVILLE LIVES in San Luis Obispo, California with his artist-poet wife (his in-house editor) and one skittery cat (his in-house critic). He writes full time, producing short stories, essays, poems, and novels.

Since 2005, his short stories have been accepted by more than 220 literary and commercial journals, magazines, and anthologies including The Potomac Review, The Bitter Oleander, Shenandoah, and Conclave: A Journal of Character.

He was nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize for his stories The Sweeper, and The Garage.

Walter is a retired urban planner and an accomplished jazz and blues guitarist – who once played with a symphony orchestra backing up jazz legend George Shearing.
